 
Dr. Varner was born and educated in Oregon. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University and his D.M.D. (dental degree) from the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center. He served an internship at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California, and his residency in orthodontics at the University of Oregon Dental School. He has also completed advanced two year post graduate studies through the Cranio-Facial Pain Center in Washington, D.C., and the Foundation for Advanced Continuing Education in San Francisco, California.Dr. Varner has completed all educational and clinical requirements and is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics as a Diplomate of the American Board. He has been active in his professional associations, serving as president of the Umpqua Dental Society, the Oregon State Society of Orthodontists and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.
